Sonia fell in love with producing all forms of art at New World School of the Arts High School in Miami, FL. After graduating with a BA in Mass Media Studies from Florida State University, Sonia got her first taste of the fast paced world of marketing, public relations and events when she landed a position with Sony Pictures Classics in New York City.
After SPC, Sonia added a long list of television production credits to her resume, including work with CBS, Telepictures, TLC and NBC News.
From 2010-2012 she served as manager of Partner Client Services for the HBO New York International Latino Film Festival. She managed activations for sponsors, including American Airlines, Macy’s, Diageo and L’Oreal. In 2012 she worked hand in hand with HBO to produce their sponsorship programs at the American Black Film Festival in Miami, FL and the Provincetown International Film Festival in Provincetown, MA.
Sonia co-founded SKA Events and worked as Lead Producer for 8 years. She’s famous for gathering outlandish props within budget and keeping the production staff motivated at the 13th hour. Her favorite events include a 100 person NYC rooftop workout for Under Armour on the launch date of the “I WILL WHAT I WANT” campaign, the distribution of five thousand orchids throughout NYC for Conde Nast in promotion of the Sephora Pantone Color of the Year Event, and an OUT100 event in celebration of former President Obama’s history making cover.
